Re: Okazaki Park & Heian Jingu Shrine in the Ancient Capital(岡崎公園と平安神宮)

I love walking around the area on a fine and peaceful day. Many families, young couples, kids, elderly women’s group and inbound tourists are always chatting happily, whenever I come here. I can also feel a kind of nostalgia, since I once used to live in Sakyo ward, just 3 km north from the park.
I have visited the Shin-en garden of the Shrine for a few times so far, which is a modern Japanese garden of the chisen kaiyu style (a style of Japanese garden with a path around a central pond). They say that it has been nationally designated a place of scenic beauty and was created over a period of more than 20 years by seventh-generation master gardener Jihei OGAWA, who lived during the Meiji period into the Showa period. There are many renowned Japanese gardens here in Kyoto, such as in the Imperial Palace, Tenryu-ji temple, Nanzen-ji temple, Saiho-ji temple, but I felt afresh that the Shin-en is just as good, if not better, as the others.
