The Visit to NHK’s Historical Drama Halls on “The Toyotomi Brothers” (NHK

This year’s historical drama broadcasted by NHK is “The Toyotomi Brothers”. Here, the brothers are 1) Hideyoshi, who is known for one of the heroes, unifying the whole country and built that huge Osaka castle, and 2) Hidenaga, a younger brother of Hideyoshi, who is said to have contributed a lot for his elder brother.
My hometown, the northern region of Shiga (which is often called “KOHOKU”, meaning the North of Lake Biwa) has been necessarily dealt with when they talk about the age of provincial wars. That means, Nagahama castle was the first castle that Hideyosihi built, Odani mountain base used to be the place where Nagamasa and Oichi (Nobunaga’s sister) led their happiest life with their 3 daughters, Ane riverside was the fierce battle field between the allied forces of Asai & Asakura and Nobunaga’s (1570 – 1573), and Shizugatake battle between Hideyoshi and Katsuie (1583) was also known as one of the important turning points in Japanese history.
So, the city of Nagahama is now working together to successfully welcome the visitors.
I visited the main hall in the downtown of Nagahama and “Integrity & Tight-knit” hall in Odani area yesterday. The third station about Shizugatake battle was not officially open yet (will start from Apr., but I already attended there at the exhibition preview in last Nov.) Since the drama just started from this Jan. and shall continue up to the end of this year, and the stories in KOHOKU area have not appeared yet, the number of visitors then was not so many, but I guess and hope that the number will explosively increase when the drama enter into many interesting episodes associated with KOHOKU. I can’t wait!
