Re: Hidenaga’s Tagami-yama Fortress(秀長の田上山砦)

When I went out to our nearest town for my small business yesterday, I tried to climb up the mountain on a whim. This is because I’ve known that there is the Tagami-yama Fortress remain built by Hidenaga (Koichiro, later Toyotomi Hidenaga; 1540 – 1591), Hideyoshi’s younger brother who is the main character of this year’s Historical Drama “BROTHERS IN ARMS”. The mountain road to the top was rather wide and in better condition than I had imagined, but I sweated a lot as the slope was a bit too steep.
According to the guide plate, the fortress was relatively wide and had a role of the home base of Hashiba Hideyoshi’s army during the Battle of Shizugatake in 1583.
I met no one during the hiking. But I was thrilled when I imagined that huge number of soldiers were gathering there with loud yells and bolstering their morale with each other in order to seek glories, by beheading the enemies as many as they could.

[Note] The fortress by Hidenaga was originally a castle built by Asakura Yoshikage in 1573, in order to defend against Nobunaga’s invasion.

There used to be renowned shrines here on the way to the fortress, but these were burned down during the turmoil of war between Yoshikage and Nobunaga
