I was lucky to be given a chance to attend the training yesterday (Feb. 13). It was sponsored by Union of Kansai Governments, its organizer, and the tourist association of Nagahama. The number of the attendees who have a qualification of Japan Tour Guide was about 40 coming from all around Kansai region, including Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara and Shiga pref. The attendees were divided into 2 groups and were trained by one expert lecture each. The day’s destinations were all representative sightseeing spots in the city as follows.
1) Nagahama Castle History Museum
2) Hokoku Shrine
3) Kurokabe (Black wall) Square
4) Nagahama Hikiyama Museum
5) Keiunkan / Bonbai (Plum bonsai) Exhibition
We were very lucky to know the day’s weather was perfect and the responsible staff’s explanation at each spot was all polite and clearly understandable, without saying the guidance of the 2 lecturers.
I strongly hope that the KOHOKU area (the northern region of Lake Biwa) shall increase its popularity from now, driven by this nice event.

昨日（2月13日）、私は幸運にもこの研修に参加する機会に恵まれました。主催は関西広域連合、そして長浜市観光協会です。京都府、大阪府、兵庫県、奈良県、滋賀県など関西各地から全国通訳士の資格を持つ約40名が参加しました。参加者は2つのグループに分かれ、それぞれ専門講師による現場での研修を受けました。当日の訪問先は、以下の通り、市内の代表的な観光スポットでした。
1) 長浜城歴史博物館
2) 豊国神社
3) 黒壁広場
4) 長浜曳山博物館
5) 慶雲館／盆梅展
当日は天候にも恵まれ、各スポットの担当者による丁寧で分かりやすい説明は、2名の講師の案内はもちろんのこと、大変参考になりました。
この素敵なイベントをきっかけに、湖北エリア（琵琶湖北部地域）の人気が今後さらに高まることを心から願っています。
