We have had relatively heavy show in our district since the middle of the last week. When I saw a blue sky in the white world the other day, a good idea came to my heart…. how nice it must be if I can freely walk around on the fresh snow! Then I immediately ordered a package of snowshoe set, a pair of the shoes, water-proof snow gaiters, and trekking poles.
Today was my debut day for that snowshoe trekking, though it was not necessarily a suitable day for the out-door sport…a mixture of snow and rain started falling when I went out. (‘_’);;
First, when I tried to put on the shoe, I was puzzled on how to wear exactly. Being at a loss, I mucked around it and started walking on the fresh snow. Then, I stumbled and my body fell into the snow on my back. Since the shoe was wide and long and I wore layer after layer of clothes in order to keep warm, I was not able to get myself upright for a while, just like a turtle on its back. I was trying to struggle escaping from snow like nothing. I was relieved to know that no one was watching my clumsy failure.
Like this, my first day of the snowshoe trekking was totally disastrous and ridiculous, but I hope I could walk lightly and happily on the fresh snow the next time. (*^^)v

先週半ばから、私たちの地域では比較的降雪量が多くなっています。先日、この真っ白の世界に青空が見えてきた時に、ふと良い考えが浮かんできました。「新雪の上を歩けたらどんなに気持ちがいいだろう！」 そう思うとすぐにスノーシューセット（スノーシュー1足、防水用ゲートル（足首を覆う巻き絆、トレッキング用ストック）をまとめて注文しました。
今日はスノーシュートレッキングのデビュー日でしたが、必ずしもこのアウトドアスポーツに適した日ではありませんでした。外に出ると、みぞれが降り始めました。 (‘_’);;
まず、スノーシューを履こうとした時、どうやって履けばいいのか分からず戸惑いました。途方に暮れながら、適当に履いて新雪の上を歩き始めたのですが、つまずいて背中から雪の中に転んでしまいました。幅広で長いスノーシューと、防寒のために重ね着していたため、ひっくり返った亀のようにしばらくはまっすぐ立つことができませんでした。雪から脱出せねばと四苦八苦しました。でも、このカッコ悪い失敗を誰も見ていないと分かってホッとしました。
こんな感じで、スノーシュートレッキング初日は散々な結果になってしまいましたが、次回は新雪の上を軽やかに楽しく歩けるといいなと思っています。 (*^^)v
