Since a tour guiding around the ancient capital for 8 pax was over by 2:00 PM the day before yesterday, I participated in the titled tour for myself, taking advantage of my free time. (I had made the pre-booking.)
The Guest house is in just east side of the Imperial Palace. It opened in Apr. 2005 to receive foreign dignitaries invited to visit Japan as official guests of the Japanese government, which role it continues to fulfil.
I was surprised to see that the construction of the buildings, including carpentry, joinery, plastering, tatami flooring, decorative metal fittings, lacquering, garden design and bamboo fencing, everything was widely used with traditional craftsmanship in laborious detail.
The 90 minutes’ tour fee of 2,000 JPY is incredibly reasonable, I bet.

I was very happy to hear from one of the 8 pax guests, “Yoshi, you have been the best tour guide we’ve had in Japan”, though I know it a flattery….(^^♪

一昨日の午後2時に８名のお客様の古都巡りツアーが終了していたので、その後の空き時間を利用して”自身のためのツアー”に参加いたしました。（事前に予約しておきました。）
迎賓館は御所のすぐ東側にあります。2005年4月に開館し、日本政府の公式賓客として来日する外国の要人を迎える場所として、現在もその役割を担っています。
建物の造り、大工、指物、左官、畳、装飾金具、漆塗り、庭園設計、竹垣など、細部に至るまで伝統的な職人技が惜しみなく用いられていることに驚きました。
90分のツアー料金2,000円は、決して高くはなかったと思います。
