Re: A New Year’s Card (年賀状)

I got more than 100 new year’s cards from my friends and acquaintances in the beginning days of this year. I read them one by one very carefully, thinking how they have been getting along these days and trying to remember good old days with the senders. More than half of the cards mentioned about cumbrances caused by the COVID-19 in the last 2 years, together with a celebration for the coming new year with HOPE. I also felt a bit sorry and lonely to find a message from a few of my aged acquaintances, which wrote “Let me sincerely say that the card of this year is the last one, since I’m already too old to continue sending it. Thank you for your long lasting friendship and general support to me so far.” People grow old ……
