Re: Shinto Dedication to the Worship of Sugawara no Michizane (天神講)

Feb., 25 in 903 AD on the old calendar is a death anniversary of Michizane (菅原 道真), who was said to be a nobleman and also an established scholar, politician, poet of Chinese poetry. So, the shrine ritual is held in this season here and there at the associated places in Japan. Our home town is not an exception.I got up at 4:00 o’clock in the morning, and went to our village shrine to worship the super hero in Japanese history. Duty members in charge of this year solemnly held the ritual at our community hall from 1:00 o’clock. Believe it or not, there is a legend that we are descendants of the genius!
