It was a delicious spring day yesterday.
I went out again for a biking around Kohoku area, the northern district of Lake Biwa.
First, I stopped in the mausoleum of Kuroda family’s origin in Kinomoto. According to the family tree written on the signboard there, Kanbei (官兵衛), who is renowned as a strategist under Hideyoshi, was the 9th generation, he was born in Harima province though.
Next, I biked along an idyllic and uncrowded road to Takatsuki, in the midst of rice paddies, being blown in the balmy wind. The main purpose was to see the gorgeous carp streamers in Ameno-mori hamlet. (It’s a traditional custom in Japan to hoist up the streamers in May, praying for children’s health and success.)
They said that more than half carps had been lowered down due to the strong wind, but it was still worth enough visiting there.
Near the seasonal event’s place, I dropped by “The East Asia Friendship Exchange House, Hosyu-an”, which was built in 1984, commemorating Hosyu’s achievement for “Chosen Tsushinshi” (朝鮮通信使), envoys dispatched by Yi Dynasty Korea to Japan. Ameno-mori Hosyu (雨森芳洲; 1668 – 1755) was born here and is well-known as one of the outstanding cosmopolitans in Edo period.

昨日は心地のよい春の一日でした。
湖北（琵琶湖の北部地方）をサイクリングするために、また出かけました。
まずは木之本にある黒田家霊廟に立ち寄りました。看板に書かれた系図によると、秀吉のもとで軍師となった官兵衛は9代目にあたるとのこと、ただし、彼は播磨国で生まれているそうです。
その後、田んぼに囲まれたのどかで車の往来もほとんどない道を、心地よい風に吹かれながら高月へと向かいました。一番の見どころと考えていたのは、雨森集落にある見事な鯉のぼりを見ることでした。（日本では、5月に子供の健康と立身出世を祈願して鯉のぼりを揚げる伝統風習があります。）
強風のため鯉のぼりの半分以上は降ろされていたとのことでしたが、それでも訪れる価値は十分にありました。
季節のイベント会場の近くには、「東アジア交流ハウス： 芳洲庵」がありました。ここは、李氏朝鮮が日本に送った「朝鮮通信使」への芳洲の功績を記念して1984年に設立されたものです。雨森芳洲（あめのもり ほうしゅう、1668-1755）はここで生まれ、江戸時代の国際人としてよく知られています。
